The New Food This Year at The Fair

Food is synonymous with the Minnesota State Fair. In fact, it is one of the fair's many staples that makes it so great.

Over at the Pioneer Press they posted an article listing all the new foods that will be available this year. And me oh my is my mouth salivating as I read this list. Here are some of my personal highlights:

-- Big Andy, a quarter-pound hamburger topped with Philly steak, sauteed onions, red and green peppers and American-Swiss cheese, at Andy's Grille

-- Chipotle Chicken Salad Fajita, with walnuts, craisins and apples with shredded lettuce,chipotle sour cream and a hint of honey in a tortilla, at Juanita's Fajitas

-- Mancini's Signature Steak Sandwich, on grilled focaccia and served with sauteed peppers and onions, at Mancini's Al Fresco 

-- Peanut Butter & Jelly Malts and Sundaes, at Goertze's Dairy Kone (I know it sounds weird, but I am genuinely curious what it will taste. For better or for worse, I will be buying this at the Fair.) 

And of course there are a couple of WTF food items on the list, like:

-- Fried Pickles 'n' Chocolate, deep-fried pickles dusted with powdered sugar and served with a side of chocolate for dipping, at Preferred Pickles

Minnesota State Fair in the Winter

With all this cold winter weather Minnesota has been having lately (I mean -20 windchill COME ON!), I decided to investigate on what the Minnesota State Fair grounds look like in the winter time.
I took a trip into the Minnesota State Fair Grounds and found some great sights of the fairgrounds in the winter time.

The Minnesota State Fair in the winter is nothing compared to the Minnesota State Fair in the Summer, however, it was still beautiful to be there, in an eerie silence. 

Minnesota State Fair Food Calorie Analysis

It's the break down no one wants to see. The below picture is a chart of the Minnesota State Fair food calorie analysis. Does anything surprise you? I thought deep-fried cheese curds would have been more than 876 calories. And that sweet corn with butter is 420 calories?! Ugh even though it's not State Fair season, it's still important to know the Minnesota State Fair food Calorie Analysis. Check it out below!

2013 State Fair Food Announced

State Fair count down has started and with that countdown comes excitement of new food at the State Fair! Click here to visit the complete list of Minnesota's State Fair new foods for 2013! What are you most excited for? I will for sure try Candied Bacon Cannoli, Deep Fried Bread Pudding, Wine Glazed Deep Fried Meatloaf, and Porketta Pig Wings from Mancini’s.

The Minnesota Fair is Over

The Minnesota Fair is over and it really is pretty sad. It was such a good fair this year and I can't believe I spend all year hyping this fair up and then it goes by faster than anything in the whole entire world. I just hope that everyone got a chance to go and experience all the wonderful foods, rides, and interesting booths this year. It was such a good one and I can't wait for next year's.

We all know one of the perks of the Minnesota State Fair: the crazy food. I figured for Thanksgiving Day, what a better way than to think of the Minnesota State Fair food! There is over 23 new food choices this year at the Minnesota State Fair! Here are some of the brand new options!

-camel on-a-stick

-whole spiced mango on-a-stick
-deep-fried bacon cheddar mashed potatoes on-a-stick

-deep-fried bologna on-a-stick

-chicken chipotle pizza on-a-stick

-caramel apple and turtle puppies

-cheese pizza served with corn dogs on top

-chicken fried bacon

-deep-fried shortcake

-grilled marshmallow, chocolate, and banana sandwich

-deep-fried cheeseburgers sliders

-sloppy joe served over spiral-cut potato chips
